Always Another Way

Inclusive, tailored support for mental well-being in West Cumbria. They host a weekly drop-in group for LGBTQ+ young people aged 11–25, as well as counselling and support needs.

LGBT hq Cumbria

Based in Carlisle, hosting many groups and initiatives including PiNC LGBT+ Youth (Pride In North Cumbria), Cumbria LGBT Pride, Free Counselling, 3rd Party Hate Crime Reporting Centre, Anti-Bullying Campaign, social & support groups.

OutREACH Cumbria

Hosts the Transgender Wellbeing Hub, offering a social space, a listening ear and face to face psychotherapy to Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender-Diverse people in Cumbria. Based in Carlisle, open for drop-ins between 12–7pm every Monday (except Bank Holidays).

Lakes Queer Adventures

A group supporting and enabling the LGBTQIA+ community to go on big & small adventures and connect with nature in the Lakes. They host walks, crafting, outdoor games, sing-alongs, and more.

NHS Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service (NRGDS)

For all people who experience gender dysphoria. They offer referrals for hormones and surgical interventions.

Proud and Diverse Cumbria

Run the Whitehaven Colours Inclusion Hub & Café, an open space for the LGBTQIA+ community in Cumbria. They host regular workshops, social meetups, and more events in the Hub itself, and also organise broader community activities.

Mindline Trans+

A confidential emotional, mental health support helpline and signposting service for people who are Trans, Non-Binary, and Genderfluid. They provide a safe place to talk about your feelings confidentially. They have Trans and Trans allies volunteering to respond to your calls and are open one evening a week on a Friday from 8pm to 11pm.

TransActual UK

Working towards a world where trans people can live safely, in dignity and with access to the healthcare that we need. A national, trans led and run organisation focussed specifically on working for trans adults in the UK. Their work is broad ranging, but has a particular focus on healthcare and trans people's legal protections. They provide a lot of online resources for Trans people and allies alike.

Voda

The world's largest free mental health resource created by and for the trans+ community. The library contains 52 self-led mental health programmes that address the most pressing issues for the trans+ community. Whether you're managing the emotional toll of waiting for gender-affirming care, or building resilience against transphobia, there is something designed to help you.

Gendered Intelligence

A trans-led and trans-involving charity that works to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve the lives of trans people. They hold online youth groups, educational mentoring, a yearly summer camp, voice workshops, a support line, and more.

Misfits

A free fitness, wellbeing and self defence programme created by Not A Phase. Focussing on confidence building whilst breaking down the barriers between the Trans+ community and traditional gym spaces. Run in partnership with various gym spaces across the UK, all with beautiful, modern gym spaces that operate with a zero-tolerance policy to prejudice.

Mermaids

One of the UK's leading trans-focused charities. Mermaids supports transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse children and young people, as well as their families and professionals involved in their care. It provides a wealth of resources for Trans people, and operates online and in-person peer support groups as well as a Support Helpline and Chat services, open Monday – Friday, 1pm – 8:30pm.

transEDU

Resources and information for supporting trans, non-binary & gender diverse applicants, students and staff in Further and Higher Education. They offer workshops, advice on setting up a Trans Policy for educational organisations, support trans students and scholars with name changes on documents and publications, and provide further online resources and support.

Men's Health Forum (Your Body, Your Health)

A charity supporting men's health in England, Wales and Scotland. They have created a publication called Your Body, Your Health. Written and developed by trans men, it explains the various aspects of transition healthcare in an easy-to-read, non-technical way to help you make decisions about your own wellbeing.
